One of the best decisions you can make at P410 is to use the full kitchen. The nearest grocery store is Foodland — check their website for hours — and there's a convenient ABC store nearby as well. Cooking even a few meals stretches your trip budget and makes the restaurant meals you splurge on feel more special.
South Kihei and Wailea offer two very different dining personalities: Kihei is casual, beach-town, counter-service, and local. Wailea is resort dining — beautiful settings, polished service, and higher price points. Both have their place on a good Maui trip.
For truly walkable dining from P410, Moose McGillycuddy's and Fred's Mexican Cafe are about 8 minutes on foot and Coconut's Fish Café about 10. South Maui Gardens — a lush local oasis with food trucks and coffee — and Kihei Caffe are each about a 30-minute walk, or a quick drive.
Andrew's Take
"While Maui has good farmers markets, they all require a drive from P410 — they're not convenient to walk to. For everyday groceries, we use Foodland (nearby) or the ABC Store. For a longer drive, Costco in Kahului is great for stocking up on arrival day. The Upcountry Farmers Market in Pukalani is worth the trip if you're already heading that direction."

Classic Hawaii plate lunch done right — now at their newer Kihei home at 1215 S Kihei Rd. Da Kitchen is where you go to eat the way locals eat — loco moco, kalua pork, chicken katsu, big portions over two scoops of rice and macaroni salad. Unpretentious, filling, and delicious.

One of Maui's most beloved breakfast spots — Andrew's Saturday ritual is breakfast here, then a walk through Kalama Park and home along the beaches (allow about 30 minutes on foot each way from P410). Located directly across from Kalama Park. Get there early to beat the line and to enjoy breakfast while it's still cool outside. Opens at 5am (check their site for current hours). Known for loco moco, banana mac-nut pancakes, and all the local breakfast classics.

Two Kihei institutions sharing one building, an easy 8-minute walk from the condo. Upstairs, Moose McGillycuddy's serves casual American fare with good drinks and a classic beach-town bar atmosphere — we frequent it often. Directly downstairs, Fred's Mexican Cafe does tacos, fajitas, and margaritas with outdoor seating — a great option on a warm evening.

At the Fairmont Kea Lani. Ko is one of those restaurants that makes you feel like you actually experienced Hawaiian cuisine — not the pineapple-on-everything tourist version, but the real thing. The menu draws on the history of Maui's plantation-era workers and celebrates local farmers and fishermen. It's a special night out.

About a 35-minute drive north and Upcountry in the old Hali'imaile pineapple plantation town — right next to the Maui Gold Pineapple Company. Bev Gannon's landmark restaurant has been a Maui institution for decades — seasonal menus drawing on Upcountry farm ingredients in a beautifully converted plantation-era building. Well worth the drive, especially paired with the Maui Gold pineapple farm tour next door — we did exactly that in June 2026, ending the tour with dinner there.

Maui's Farmers Markets
The farmers market is a Maui Saturday ritual that most visitors miss — which means you see more locals than tourists, and the produce is as fresh as it gets anywhere in the world. Maui grows things you've never tasted in quite the same way: the pineapple is genuinely different here, the papayas are picked ripe, and the Maui Gold mangoes in season are a revelation.
Beyond produce you'll find local honey, Maui-grown coffee and tea, fresh-baked pastries, prepared foods, fresh flowers, and handcrafted goods. Budget an hour and bring a cooler bag.

The Real Deal · Upcountry
Upcountry Farmers Market
At the Kulamalu Town Center in Pukalani (55 Kiopaa St), Upcountry. Arguably the best farmers market on Maui — the cool elevation and rich volcanic soil of Upcountry produces superb vegetables, strawberries, avocados, and herbs. Combine with a stop at the nearby Maui Gold Pineapple farm store.
